9.1 Introduction

This section describes the installation, configuration, and technical operation of a custom Emacs major mode designed for editing ELEGANT lattice files (typically .lte and .lat). The goal of this mode is to provide:

• Structured editing support for lattice definitions
• Context-sensitive autocompletion of element types
• Context-sensitive autocompletion of element parameters
• Immediate access to parameter metadata via =TAB
• Automatic activation for lattice file extensions

The implementation integrates tightly with EmacsâĂŹ native completion system and derives its semantic knowledge directly from ELEGANTâĂŹs source code.
